What is Reiki?

Reiki is a relatively new treatment that was developed in Japan by Mikao Usui in the early 1900’s.  The Japanese Reiki Kanji (symbol) is made up of two parts: ‘rei’ meaning universal or spirit and ‘ki’, meaning energy.

Reiki is passed on from Master to student and practitioners can trace their lineage directly back to Mikao Usui. Although there are newer versions, Usui Reiki remains the purest and most powerful, yet still gentle.

There are three levels of Reiki training:-

Level One – for personal use and use on family and friends only

Level Two – Practitioner Level (providing insurance is in place if treating clients)

Master Level – Master Level also allows training of students through the levels to Master Level including use of the sacred Reiki Symbols and attunements.

Reiki can be used on the whole body or localised to a specific part of the body.  Clients remain fully clothed and are usually asked to lie on a massage table but may be seated.  After centering and grounding to enter a calm state the therapist will then connect with the client’s energy by placing their hands on the client’s shoulders. After that there will be a series of fixed placements, either hands on (where appropriate) or hands off.   Many practitioners, like myself, prefer to work intuitively. They are ‘guided’ to areas specifically needing attention, even when you haven’t told us!

Many clients report feeling heat, tingling and very deep relaxation.  After a treatment you may feel an overall sense of well-being.  As Reiki works on the physical body and etheric body it can be a wonderful form of emotional release.  An improved mood and sense of self is often reported as well as better sleep due to deep relaxation.

By nature, Reiki is a very gentle treatment so it is suitable for all with no negative side effects.  As an experienced Crystal Healer I recommend combining with Reiki as they enhance each other wonderfully.  Reiki is often used alongside conventional care and medicine in hospices, hospitals and other healthcare settings.  It is also beneficial for shock, grief and many other things that life throws at us.  Animals and children can also experience Reiki safely and this is why I have extended my training specifically for Horses and other animals.

Why not book an appointment with me to try Reiki for yourself?
